| this times THREE!!! |
We ended up taking you to the hospital because you were congested and coughing intermittently. Only to find out you were due for your 2 month check-up. We were hesitant at first about getting your immunization shots, but because you didn't have a fever (your temperature was absolutely normal), the doctor insisted we get them now. It consisted of one oral vaccine and THREE shots. One on the right thigh and two on the left thigh. Mommy watched the nurse inject the first shot but turned her head for the other two. I held you as the nurse administered all the shots.
It was the absolute very first time we heard you cry that loud.
We fed you in the waiting room, you slept in the car seat and we brought you home. It was when you woke up all hell broke loose. I wasn't sure if you were upset about being congested, coughing, being medicated, or the soreness from the needles, but you were in an absolute terror! You screamed with all your might when I tried to undress you, touch you anywhere near your thighs or even console you. It was seriously traumatic. You started to burn up, pushing 101 F, flopping and only eating a portion of you regularly ate. Not to mention you threw up all over your face because you had your head cocked back. This was the second time you ever threw up and we were in a complete panic because your face was completely covered with white milk. Milk was in your eyes, inside of your nose, in your hair and all over the place.
Needless to say, mommy and daddy didn't get much sleep. In fact, because you were so congested, we ended up putting you to sleep inside the car seat so you could sleep sitting down. There's just no picture or video that could describe what happened on your Day 60.
*Note to all potential newborn parents. DO NOT let your doctor administer immunization shots when your baby is sick. EVEN IF the baby doesn't have a fever.
